Bringing the serenity of pine forest indoors
Norfolk Pines are one of the very few needled plants or trees that can survive indoors as a houseplant. Despite Norfolk Pines’ needled features also a conifer where they bear cones – it is not in the Pine family. Native to Norfolk Island, its origin in the semi-tropical location, creates a needled plant to adapt with warm temperatures.
Common problem with Norfolk Pines is that after many years, they will outgrow their indoor species as they grow in spurts. They will eventually grow and reach the ceiling, this is most appropriate to later move the plant outside. By providing a bit less than ideal light and keeping it pot bound and unfertilized will help slow its growth.
